1820 Lg. Date, Sq. Base 2, No Knob - O.106 R.1 PCGS Shield AU 58
Extremely early die state, sharply impressed and prooflike! The usual bulge in the obverse die, from bust to stars 1-2, is absent. An earlier NGC label accompanies, “AU 58 PL.” The coin is untoned with cabinet friction and lightly disturbed fields but exhibits no sign of having entered circulation. The mirror-like surfaces showcase extraordinary detail in the dentils and central devices. Note, particularly, the eagle’s wings and claws. I find no record of the coin having appeared at auction.Estimate: $2,750 to $3,500
