A lustrous example of this Red Book staple. Silver toning, with a swath of russet on the reverse. Rarely seen adjustment marks (or are they planchet striations?) cross the weakly struck arrow tips and end of the legend. A fascinating remnant of the early mint: engraver’s error + extensive clash marks + grossly worn dies + a planchet anomaly. You have to love this coin – and its history!
