The consignor confessed that he bought this coin for its high grade and eye appeal. Not until he took it home did he notice a row of incused dentils near the top of Liberty’s cap! The obverse (hammer) die needed tightening. After the coin was struck it took a second blow from the edge of the loose obverse die. The error was overlooked by PCGS. The silver-grey coin enjoys a partial halo of electric aqua toning through the left stars and legend. A pretty coin and great conversation piece.
