A bust half as colorful as this is subject to sanctions. It puts others to shame. The blend of iridescent blue, turquoise, rose -- and who knows what else -- is awe-inspiring. The strike and luster leave nothing to be desired. The surfaces are immaculate. Pryor, Pogue and Friend each had lovely MS 64 examples. But this one rates the best. At least in my opinion. Can’t figure why it is not in a 65 holder. The dramatic toning and double profile facilitate identification, past and future. It was a highlight of Jim O’Neal’s collection of rarities, offered by Heritage in April 2019, where it brought $30,000. Be sure to preview the coin, even if your budget will not permit ownership.
