The toning, however, is nothing short of spectacular! Gunmetal-blue and rose toning imbues the richly toned surfaces. Luster is bold and unbroken beneath the toning. It is a challenge to find rub on the coin. Gerrie picked up the coin in Heritage’s August 2017 sale of the Southeast Kansas Collection, lot 4937. It brought $4,080 at the August 2024 sale of Gerrie’s collection. Estimate: $3,500 to $4,500.
