1827 Sq. Base 2 - O.145 R.5 PCGS AU 58

Another peacock’s tongue for the advanced collector. Untoned with nearly full luster. The strike is first rate. The surfaces exhibit minuscule signs of handling. The coin was uncovered by Large Cent specialist Tom Reynolds and sold to our consignor via private treaty. The somewhat nicer Prouty-Link-Davignon coin, PCGS AU 58 with a green CAC sticker, yielded $8,855 in January 2018 (MB 46, lot 65). This coin is a happy addition to the Condition Census that now sports 3 Mint State coins and 4 AU 58s. Estimate: $5,000 and up.
