A Condition Census example of this rare die pair, making its first appearance at auction. Harry Laibstain is credited with uncovering the coin a few years back. He sold it privately into an important collection. The obverse die enjoyed lengthy service on the common 1832 O.113. Disappearing dentils and a generally blunt impression proclaim and earmark its marriage to a new reverse. The strike on this example is as sharp as I’ve seen. Luster abounds. The glow of subtle russet toning pleases the eye. Estimate: $2,000 to $3,000.
