Ex Don Parsley and Keith Davignon. In January 1997 Don Parsley spotted this vivacious 1832 in MB 19, lot 94. Keith Davignon found it irresistible when Parsley consigned it to MB 28 in June 2003, lot 22. I described it as “a grey-dirt beauty.” Then elaborated, “Luster bursts through the toning. Later die state, with drawn stars. But SO original! The surfaces are immaculate. I find absolutely no marks. Full motto, with well struck devices. I’ll wager the submitter to PCGS was disappointed by the grade.” If you are familiar with the “look” of Louis Eliasberg’s bust half-dollars, this coin will trigger fond memories. Estimate: $2,000 to $2,400.
