The favored die state, featuring a triangular retained cud from stars 1-2 to Liberty’s curls.  Evenly worn with a few spots but no significant marks.  Natural antique grey toning with copper hues on the reverse.  Prices on this rare and dramatic overdate skyrocket in higher grades.  This modest example last appeared in Heritage’s June 2012 sale, lot 8627, bringing $2,530 in an NGC VG 8 capsule.   Estimate: $2,000 to $2,500
